William (Bill) Venohr is a great grandson of E.D. Etnyre, grandson of R.D. Etnyre and son of Marilyn Etnyre Venohr. Bill grew up in Sterling, CO where his family had a small car dealership. Bill attended the U.S. Naval Academy where he earned a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering.
Bill served 23 years in the Navy as a submarine officer. During his four submarine tours Bill was involved in an extensive overhaul of his first submarine and then went to a new construction submarine. Bill qualified both as an engineer for nuclear powered submarines and for command. During his career Bill graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a M.A. in Managerial Economics. Several staff positions rounded out his Navy career.
After retiring from the Navy, Bill worked for two years for a software company involved with trust accounting software for banks, investment firms, and non-profit organizations. He then taught high school science for 8 years while earning a M.S. in Education from Pittsburg State University. After retiring from teaching, Bill and his wife Susie worked on six construction projects for churches with an organization of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Bill currently is a Director on the Board of Directors.
Bill and Susie have three adult children and five grandchildren. Their time frequently revolves around the families’ activities and they travel whenever time allows.
